Lionel Messi, the football legend, has declared his decision to join Inter Miami. This decision comes after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career.

Messi’s Statement

In a joint interview with Mundo Deportivo and SPORT, Messi confirmed his decision to move to Miami. He stated, “I made the decision that I am going to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it one hundred percent. I’m missing some things but we decided to continue the path.”

Messi further explained his decision, stating that he had offers from other European teams but didn’t evaluate them as his initial idea was to return to Barcelona. However, if that didn’t work out, he felt the need to leave European football, especially after winning the World Cup.

He expressed his excitement about experiencing the United States league in a different way, enjoying day-to-day life but with the same responsibility of wanting to win and always doing things well.

Inter Miami’s Response

Following Messi’s announcement, Inter Miami released a video, humorously addressing the recent skepticism surrounding MLS and Messi’s potential move to Barcelona or the Saudi Pro League.

Messi’s move to MLS and Inter Miami is a significant moment for the league, as it marks the first time Messi will play senior football outside of Europe. He spent 17 years in Barcelona’s first team before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, where he won Ligue 1 in two consecutive seasons.

However, Messi’s time at PSG was not entirely successful, as he was unable to lead the team to a Champions League victory, despite playing alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
