Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the season-long loan of left-back Sergio Reguilon. The 26-year-old Spanish defender will join the Red Devils, with a built-in break clause that United can trigger in January if they wish to terminate the loan early.

Reguilon, known for his aggressive defending and ability to press higher up the pitch, has previously demonstrated great attacking threat and creativity. In La Liga, he recorded two goals and four assists from the left-back position. His crossing accuracy and dribbling ability have also been praised, as he completed the third most successful open play crosses and had the second highest success rate for take-ons among La Liga left-backs.

The loan deal comes as Manchester United sought a left-back to cover for the injured Luke Shaw. Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid for around £30 million in 2020 and spent the last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. Under his current contract with Tottenham, Reguilon earns an annual average salary of £2,500,000.

As part of the loan agreement, Manchester United will cover Reguilon’s full salary, but there is no fee or buy option included. The player has already completed his medical ahead of the move.
