Man United Make Mason Mount First Summer Signing

Manchester United have completed the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea for a reported £60 million. The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils, with an option for a further 12 months. The deal consists of £55 million upfront and £5 million in add-ons.

Mount has been with Chelsea since the age of six and has made 195 appearances for the club. In an emotional farewell message to Chelsea fans, Mount said that it’s the “right time” for him to leave the club. He expressed his gratitude to the backroom staff, teammates, and fans for their continuous support throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.

The England international will be the first signing for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag this summer. Mount’s arrival at Old Trafford follows a disappointing season for Chelsea, where they finished 12th in the Premier League and failed to win a major trophy.

In a statement, Mount said, “Given the speculation over the last six months, this may not come as a surprise to you. But it doesn’t make it any easier to tell you that I’ve made the decision to leave Chelsea”. The midfielder is now focused on getting back to his best under Ten Hag and contributing to Manchester United’s success.
