Mason Mount Bids Farewell to Chelsea in £60 Million Move to Manchester United

Mason Mount, the 24-year-old midfielder, has confirmed his departure from Chelsea in an emotional farewell message to fans. The England international is set to join Manchester United in a deal worth £60 million.

Mount, who has been with Chelsea since 2005, starting as a youth player, expressed his gratitude to the club’s fans in a heartfelt video message posted on Instagram. He acknowledged the speculation surrounding his future over the past six months and confirmed his decision to leave the club.

In his message, Mount stated, “I feel you deserve more than just a written statement so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I’ve been for all of your support over the last 18 years.

He went on to say, “I know some of you won’t be happy with my decision but it’s what’s right for me at this moment in my career.” Mount joined Chelsea at the age of six and has since celebrated numerous victories with the club, including the Champions League in 2021.

Mount also took the opportunity to thank the academy, the managers he’s worked under, including Frank LampardThomas Tuchel, and Graham Potter, the backroom staff at Cobham, and his teammates. He ended his message by wishing the fans all the best.

His departure marks the end of an 18-year journey with Chelsea, during which he won the Youth Cup, multiple Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Champions League.
