Lionel Messi, the Argentine football legend, has decided to leave European football this summer. This news comes from Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, who reports that Messi has chosen to play for Inter Miami in the next season.

Messi’s Future Destination

Messi’s future has been a subject of intense speculation in recent days. Clubs like Barcelona, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, and Inter Miami have all shown interest in securing his services. However, it seems that the Major League Soccer side has won the race.

Balague’s tweet coincided with Miguel Rico’s confirmation of Messi’s decision, stating that Messi has informed Barcelona of his future destination. Despite his father and agent, Jorge Messi, confirming that Messi wanted to play for Barcelona next season, it appears that the Argentine superstar was keen to finalize his future this week.

Due to their salary limit restrictions, Barcelona was unable to guarantee Messi that they would be able to register him next season. This uncertainty seems to have been a decisive factor in Messi’s decision.

A Landmark Deal

Inter Miami is set to offer Messi a landmark deal, where he will earn a percentage of the money that sponsors of the league will make from his arrival. He will earn money from both Adidas and Apple TV as part of the agreement.

Al Hilal was also interested in a deal, but it appears that Messi has opted for a more family-friendly environment in Miami. The cultural shift in Miami will not be as dramatic for his three children and partner Antonella Roccuzzo.

Despite multiple public statements from various figures at Barcelona, it appears Messi’s desire to get a deal done and their inability to offer him guarantees have prevented the Blaugrana from pulling off a glorious return.
