Erling Haaland, the star striker for Manchester City and Norway, faced boos from his own fans following Norway’s defeat to Scotland in their recent European Championships qualifying match. As reported by Mail Sport, the incident occurred after the match as the team was preparing to depart the stadium.

Haaland, who had a stellar season with Manchester City, scoring 52 goals and helping the club secure a treble, opened the scoring for Norway with a penalty just beyond the hour mark. However, a late comeback from Scotland, with goals from Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean, turned the tide of the match.

Despite the loss, a section of young fans eagerly awaited their idol, hoping to meet him after the game. However, Haaland chose to board the team bus immediately, which did not sit well with the fans. The disappointment among the fans was evident as audible boos filled the air as the team bus pulled away.

Adding to the intrigue, Norway’s national team coach, Stale Solbakken, revealed that Haaland had asked to be substituted late in the game, citing exhaustion. This request came after Haaland’s 64th game for club and country since the 2022/23 season started.
