Tottenham secured a crucial 1-0 victory at Molineux Stadium, with João Palhinha’s 82nd-minute strike proving the difference in a tightly contested Premier League clash.

Wolves entered the match rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just 17 points from 33 games. Tottenham, meanwhile, occupied 18th place with 31 points, making this a vital encounter for both sides fighting relegation battles. The hosts showed early intent but struggled to create clear opportunities against a disciplined Spurs defense.

The first half unfolded as a cagey affair with both teams canceling each other out. Wolves managed just one shot on target in the opening 45 minutes, while Tottenham’s attacking players found space limited by a compact home defense. André received a yellow card for Wolves in the 45th minute, setting a cautious tone for the encounter.

Tottenham controlled possession with 59 percent of the ball but found penetration difficult. The visitors completed 399 of 468 passes with 85 percent accuracy, dominating the midfield without breaking through. Wolves, by contrast, held their shape well and restricted Spurs to half-chances.

The second half saw Tottenham increase their intensity. Pedro Porro received a yellow card in the 56th minute as the visitors pressed forward. Wolves defender Santiago Bueno also went into the book moments later as tempers began to rise.

Rodrigo Bentancur picked up a caution in the 65th minute as Tottenham continued their assault. Conor Gallagher joined the disciplinary list in the 74th minute, reflecting the physical nature of the contest. Neither side had managed to break the deadlock.

The breakthrough arrived in the 82nd minute when Palhinha fired Tottenham ahead. The midfielder struck with precision to send the traveling support into raptures and leave Wolves searching for an equalizer with limited time remaining.

Wolves pressed hard in the closing stages but could not find the back of the net. João Gomes received a yellow card in the 90th minute as frustration mounted for the hosts. Kevin Danso saw yellow in the 90th minute for Tottenham as the visitors held firm.

The statistics told a story of two teams canceling each other out until Tottenham’s decisive moment. Spurs registered 11 total shots with two on target, while Wolves managed 10 shots with just one finding the target. Tottenham’s expected goals stood at 1.05 compared to Wolves’ 0.55.

Micky van de Ven impressed for Tottenham with a 7.5 rating, while João Gomes earned 7.3 for Wolves despite the defeat. Goalkeeper Antonín Kinský made one crucial save for the visitors in a composed performance.

This victory lifts Tottenham to 34 points, though their league position remains precarious. Wolves’ defeat extends their struggles at the bottom, leaving them four points adrift of safety with five games remaining in the season.
