‘The club also needs to let me go’ – David Raya pleads with Brentford for transfer to Spurs!

David Raya agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur. With one year left on his contract, Brentford have decided to sell their keeper this season instead of a free next summer. With clubs still in negotiations, Raya has urged Brentford to make the deal happen as soon as possible.

Brentford have already bought Raya’s replacement in Mark Flekken, but Raya is still on the books. Raya has pleaded with his current club to allow him to move on. Speaking to The Times, he said: “I have ambitions to make the next step in my career. I want to try to win titles and to compete in Europe in the next couple of years. I’m 27 now and I feel like I’m at the point in my career when I want to make that step up. There are options out there but it’s not just my ambitions, the club also needs to let me go.”

While there is still a lot of negotiating still left to be done, it is expected that a consensus will be found in the coming weeks, with Spurs anticipating having the Spaniard for pre-season.
