Napoli have appointed Rudi Garcia as their new manager, following the resignation of Luciano Spalletti. Garcia, the former Roma and Lille boss, was not initially considered a favourite for the position but emerged as the chosen candidate from a shortlist that included Paulo Sousa and Christophe Galtier.

Napoli’s President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, welcomed Garcia to the club with a tweet, stating, “I have the pleasure to announce that, after getting to know him and spending time with him in the last ten days, Rudi Garcia will be the new Napoli coach. I wish him a sincere welcome and good luck.”

Garcia’s appointment marks a new chapter for Napoli, who recently celebrated their first League Title since 1990. As the club prepares for their return to the Champions League next season, all eyes will be on Garcia to see if he can build on the success achieved under Spalletti.

While some may view Garcia’s appointment as an underwhelming conclusion to Napoli’s search for a new manager, his profile is fairly similar to Spalletti’s when he was appointed two years ago. Only time will tell if Garcia can replicate or even surpass the success of his predecessor.
