Bryan Mbeumo earned Manchester United a 1-1 draw with European champions Paris Saint-Germain in a pre-season friendly at Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg on Saturday as both sides continued their preparations.
Paris Saint-Germain struck inside two minutes to take an early lead. Ibrahim Mbaye finished clinically from the centre of the box after a well-placed cross from Dro Fernandez.
Manchester United steadied after the setback but were forced into an early change. Ayden Heaven was withdrawn in the 26th minute as United adjusted defensively after the opening.
The equaliser arrived in the 32nd minute through Mbeumo. The forward converted a right-footed effort from the centre after being found by Amad Diallo to make it 1-1.
That strike ensured the sides went in level at the interval after a competitive first half. Both teams used the friendly to rotate and build match sharpness in Sweden.
The second half was goalless but brought concern for United on the injury front. Mason Mount was forced off with an injury, while goalkeeper Tom Heaton also picked up a late problem.
Mount's withdrawal added to a disrupted evening that had already seen changes at the back. Tyler Fletcher was introduced and helped United apply pressure during a lively spell.
Paris Saint-Germain retained greater possession and continued to probe after the break. Manchester United defended resolutely and remained a threat on transition as chances stayed limited.
The draw represents a positive result for United against strong European opposition in pre-season. For PSG, the outing in Gothenburg offered further minutes ahead of their competitive return.
