Manchester United have successfully secured a deal to sign the highly-rated Watford defender, Harry Amass. The 16-year-old left-back, known as one of the brightest young talents in English football, is tipped to have a successful future in the game.
The Deal
Amass has agreed to a long-term contract with United, understood to be four years. As part of the deal, Watford will receive a compensation fee, which is currently being negotiated between the clubs. The signing hasn’t been officially completed yet, but a deal has been agreed that will see him move to Manchester shortly.

Impressive Track Record
Amass, a scholar with the Championship side, was involved with the Watford first team last season and was an unused sub for the FA Cup third-round tie with Reading in January aged only 15. The defender made his England under-15 debut aged 14 in December 2021 and is now part of the England under-16 side.

He featured regularly for Watford’s under-18 side last season and put in impressive displays against Everton and Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup. He also featured for the club’s under-21 side. Amass was seen as one of the brightest prospects at Watford, who also saw another promising young player, Adrian Blake, reject an offer of a professional deal and sign for Dutch side FC Utrecht earlier in the window.
A Future Star
Amass is likely to feature for England at the U17 World Cup in November. His signing is a clear indication of Manchester United’s commitment to nurturing young talent and building a strong foundation for the future.
