As the teams headed into the break, City held a narrow 1-0 advantage. Forest needed to find a way to break City’s rhythm and create their own opportunities, while City looked to extend their lead.
The second half began with renewed vigour from Forest. Their determination paid off in the 56th minute. Morgan Gibbs-White fired home an equaliser, stunning the Etihad crowd and bringing the visitors level.
City responded quickly to the setback. Just six minutes later, in the 62nd minute, Rodri restored their lead. Rayan Ait-Nouri provided the assist, and the Spanish midfielder drilled his shot into the net.
Forest continued to fight, despite picking up two quick yellow cards for Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo made tactical adjustments, including bringing on Nicolás Domínguez.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 76th minute. Elliot Anderson found space and expertly tucked away his chance, making it 2-2. The goal sent the travelling supporters into raptures, securing their second equaliser of the match.
As the game entered its final stages, both teams made substitutions, seeking a winning goal or to shore up their defenses. Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels received a yellow card for time-wasting in injury time.
