Liverpool are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig to sign Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for a reported fee of £60 million.
The 22-year-old has been a key player for Leipzig, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last season.
Szoboszlai’s release clause of £60 million is set to expire on June 30, prompting Liverpool to push for a deal.
The Reds have held talks with Szoboszlai’s representatives and are now looking to finalize the transfer with Leipzig.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has been considering the merits of a move for the attacking midfielder for several weeks.
The addition of Szoboszlai would bolster Liverpool’s midfield, following the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister earlier in the transfer window.
In a separate deal, Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho is set to join RB Leipzig on loan. The official announcement of Szoboszlai’s transfer to Liverpool is expected to be made soon.
