Liverpool FC Welcomes Dominik Szoboszlai in a £60 Million Deal

Liverpool FC have confirmed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £60 million. The 22-year-old Hungarian midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Reds, marking a significant addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Szoboszlai, who has been capped 32 times for Hungary and was named their new captain last year, is known for his attacking prowess and creativity. He scored 10 goals for Leipzig last season through 48 appearances, demonstrating his potential to be a game-changer for Liverpool.

The move comes as part of a major midfield rebuild this summer at Anfield. Szoboszlai is the second significant signing following the addition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion last month.

Speaking about his move, Szoboszlai said, “It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better. The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started. [A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”

Szoboszlai will don the No.8 shirt, a number made famous by legendary former captain Steven Gerrard. Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting his debut when the Reds open their 2023-24 Premier League campaign away at Chelsea on August 13.
