Kylian Mbappe, the star striker of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has once again proven his mettle by winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award for a record fourth time. This achievement comes as he also aims to claim the Ligue 1 “Golden Boot” for the fourth consecutive campaign.
The Unprecedented Achievement
Mbappe’s exceptional performance this season has earned him the admiration of his peers in the French players’ union – UNFP. His contribution to PSG’s success, leading them to their ninth Ligue 1 title in 11 years, has been instrumental. The 24-year-old set up his strike partner, Lionel Messi, for the goal that took the club to a record 11th top-flight crown.
“I want to thank the players, the staff, all the people working in the shadows,” said Mbappe after collecting his UNFP trophy. He added, “I’ve always wanted to leave a mark. I did not expect to win so much so early, but I’m happy to make history in my country.”
The Golden Boot Race
In PSG’s final match of the 2022/23 campaign against Clermont at the Parc des Princes, Mbappe, who has 28 Ligue 1 goals, will try to stay ahead of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored 26 times. If he tops the scoring charts for a fifth season, he will equal the feats of the Argentine Carlos Bianchi and the France striker Jean-Pierre Papin.

Franck Haise was named the best coach of the season after leading RC Lens to second place and automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League. “What we’ve been through is unforgettable,” said the 52-year-old Frenchman.
Lens also had four players in the team of the season: Brice Samba, Kevin Danso, Seko Fofana, and Lois Openda. PSG also had four players selected: Mbappe, Messi, Nuno Mendes, and Achraf Hakimi.
As the season concludes, the future looks bright for both Mbappe and PSG. With his commitment to the club and his exceptional performance, fans can look forward to another exciting season.
