Kylian Mbappe, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star forward, has stated that staying at the club is his “only option for now”. This comes after the 24-year-old French international shocked the football world by declining to extend his contract with PSG, which is set to expire in 2024.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Mbappe has clarified that he has no intention of leaving PSG. He stated, “I’ve already answered that. My objective is to stay, that’s my only option for now.” He also dismissed the controversy surrounding the letter he sent to PSG, informing them of his decision not to extend his contract. “I don’t think that a letter kills someone, I don’t care about that. I didn’t think it would offend anyone: I just sent a letter,” he explained.

The French forward’s decision has put PSG in a difficult position, as the club is adamant that they will not let him leave for free. However, Mbappe seems unfazed by the situation, stating, “People can talk, criticize…. I know why I do what I do and why I say what I say. People don’t know all the ins and outs.”

Mbappe’s decision to stay at PSG, at least for the time being, has put a halt to the rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid. However, the situation remains fluid, and the coming months will reveal how this saga unfolds.

In the meantime, Mbappe remains focused on his duties with the French national team. He said, “My first concern is to play tomorrow and help my team tomorrow. That’s what matters to me now.” As the football world continues to speculate about his future, Mbappe is keeping his eyes on the ball, both literally and figuratively.
