Manchester City’s Champions League final was once again disrupted by an early withdrawal of their star player, Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian international had to limp out of the game with a suspected hamstring problem after just over 30 minutes into the clash against Inter Milan.

This is not the first time De Bruyne has had to bow out of a Champions League final prematurely. He faced a similar situation in the 2021 showpiece against Chelsea, where he was forced to leave the field early due to an injury.

Manchester City were looking to complete a treble by winning the Champions League against Inter in Istanbul. The early exit of their talismanic playmaker, however, dealt a significant blow to their plans. Despite the setback, Phil Foden stepped in to replace De Bruyne, who initially tried to play through the pain barrier.

The Champions League has been a dream and an obsession for both Kevin De Bruyne and Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s manager. This latest injury to De Bruyne, however, has once again put a damper on their aspirations.
