Kalidou Koulibaly completes move to Al Hilal

Chelsea confirmed the sale of Koulibaly to Al Hilal, marking the end of the defender’s one-year stint with the club. Koulibaly joined Chelsea in a £34 million deal from Napoli last summer. However, the Saudi side have managed to sign the 32-year-old for just half of what Chelsea paid for him, with the transfer fee set at £17 million.

During his time at Chelsea, Koulibaly made 32 appearances for the Blues. His debut was marked with a fantastic volley against Tottenham Hotspur in his first home game. Another notable moment of his Chelsea career was a goal in a London derby, away to Fulham.

Koulibaly’s transfer to Al Hilal is part of a larger trend of players moving to Saudi Arabia. Notably, N’Golo Kante has agreed to a free transfer to Al-Ittihad, while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is closing in on a move to Al-Ahli.
