Juventus Nears Deal for Versatile American Winger Timothy Weah from Lille

Juventus is edging closer to securing the services of talented Lille winger Timothy Weah. The move, which is expected to be permanent, has been reported by renowned journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

Juventus’ Pursuit of Timothy Weah

According to his sources, Juventus has reached a verbal agreement with Lille, with a transfer fee of €12 million settled upon.

However, the final structure of the deal is yet to be determined, as Juventus has two options on the table.

They can either pay the full amount upfront or opt for an initial payment of €10 million, followed by €2 million in bonuses. Productive discussions between the two clubs have taken place, indicating progress towards a positive outcome.

Weah’s Versatility

While primarily known for his performances as a wide attacker for the United States men’s national team, Timothy Weah showcased remarkable versatility during his 18 Ligue 1 starts in the previous season. He featured in various positions, including right back, left back, right wing, and even as a false nine.

Juventus sees Timothy Weah as a promising addition to their squad, particularly for the right-wing position.

However, the club is also keen on acquiring an experienced player for that role. Thus, their pursuit of Weah does not preclude their interest in Timothy Castagne, with whom talks have been held involving Leicester City.

By targeting Weah, Juventus aims to secure a younger option on the right flank, providing both depth and competition within the squad.
