In the traditional pre-season curtain-raiser at Riazor, the visitors dominated early possession but struggled for clarity. Deportivo stayed compact and looked to threaten on the break and from set pieces.
Their best opening came in the 39th minute when Endrick's acrobatic volley forced a fine save from Leo Román. The forward had timed his run well but could not find the breakthrough.
The deadlock was broken deep in first-half stoppage time following a corner at the opposite end. Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin claimed the ball and launched a long, precise hand-throw to Brahim Díaz to spark the counter.
Díaz brought it down with his chest, drove forward and slotted a low finish into the net. The goal, assisted by Lunin, gave Real Madrid a narrow lead at the interval.
Real Madrid thought they had doubled their advantage in the 57th minute. Carlos Espí finished off a pass from Eduardo Camavinga but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Deportivo responded after the break and began to commit more bodies forward. They created late pressure as the home crowd urged an equaliser inside a lively Riazor atmosphere.
Lunin preserved the clean sheet with decisive interventions late on. He denied late efforts from Zakaria Eddahchouri and Miguel Loureiro to keep Real Madrid ahead.
Deportivo continued to push but lacked the final touch against a deeper Real Madrid block. The visitors managed the closing stages with control and game experience.
The result sealed Real Madrid's 10th Teresa Herrera Trophy title at Abanca-Riazor. It offered a measured, positive step in pre-season before competitive fixtures resume later this month.
