Barcelona set to sign Ilkay Gundogan on free transfer

Barcelona Football Club has successfully sealed the acquisition of renowned German midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan.

The midfielder’s contract with Manchester City is set to conclude on the 1st of July, following which he will join the ranks of Barcelona.

Although the deal is yet to receive official confirmation, reputable sources, such as Fabrizio Romano and Mundo Deportivo, have reported the agreement.

Gundogan has committed to a two-year contract with Barcelona, and the club holds the option to extend it by an additional year.

The German international recently underwent medical tests in Munich and subsequently met Mateu Alemany to finalize the agreement, signifying a significant step towards completion.

Despite facing stiff competition, Barcelona succeeded in securing Gundogan’s signature, as the midfielder rejected contract renewal offers from Manchester City and a further proposal from Arsenal. His decision to join Barcelona demonstrates the club’s allure and ambition, positioning them favorably amidst negotiations.

This breakthrough in acquiring Gundogan serves as a testament to the club’s relentless pursuit of talented players and sets the stage for further exciting developments during the summer transfer window.
