Arsenal have reportedly made an improved bid for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, with a verbal proposal worth around £60 million. The Gunners had an opening bid of around £45 million rejected by Chelsea, but there’s optimism on both sides that an agreement can be reached.

Havertz, who has two years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, is keen on a move to the Emirates and has already agreed to a salary of around £ 210,000 a week to move across London. The offer is believed to be worth an initial £55 million, with an extra £5 million in add-ons.

However, Chelsea is believed to value the 24-year-old at more like £70-75 million, so further negotiations may be needed. The Blues are keen to raise funds to target signings of their own, like Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Despite Havertz’s underwhelming performance for Chelsea, Arsenal seems serious about investing big money in the German international. Havertz was an elite young talent in his Bayer Leverkusen days, but it remains to be seen if he’ll ever have quite what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

As the transfer window heats up, Arsenal fans will be keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding Havertz’s potential move to the Emirates.
