AC Milan Reportedly in Talks with Benfica Youngster Florentino Luis for Midfield Reinforcement

In a bid to bolster their midfield options, Italian football giants AC Milan have reportedly initiated discussions with talented Benfica youngster Florentino Luis, according to reputable football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Rossoneri have reached out to the entourage of the Portuguese starlet, expressing their interest in securing his services at San Siro.

However, Benfica, the current club of Florentino Luis, are in no hurry to part ways with the promising midfielder, as his contract with the Portuguese side runs until 2027.

Consequently, they are seeking a substantial fee of approximately €30 million to entertain any potential transfer offers.

Florentino Luis emerged as a key figure for Benfica during the previous season, making an impressive 54 appearances across all competitions.

Within these matches, he featured prominently in 33 Primeira Liga fixtures, contributing significantly to Benfica’s triumph in the league, their first since the 2018/19 campaign.

Although he did not find the back of the net, his defensive prowess and exceptional ability to distribute the ball from deep midfield positions earned him the admiration of manager Roger Schmidt.

Florentino Luis established himself as a vital presence in the center of the park, showcasing his potential as a homegrown talent.

AC Milan’s pursuit of Florentino Luis comes as a response to a void created in their midfield following the high-profile departure of Sandro Tonali, who secured a lucrative move to Premier League outfit Newcastle United.

The departure of Tonali, a highly regarded player among the club’s supporters, has sparked concerns and unrest among the Milan faithful.

Therefore, the Rossoneri are actively seeking a suitable replacement to fill the gap left by the departure of the talented Italian midfielder.
