Kosovo stunned Slovakia with a sensational 4-3 comeback victory, scoring three second-half goals at Tehelne Pole Stadion to turn the World Cup qualifier on its head.

This crucial Group stage encounter on March 26, 2026, held significant weight for both nations. Slovakia entered the match second in their group, while Kosovo, also fighting for qualification, aimed to close the gap.

The home side started brightly, finding an opener just six minutes in. Martin Valjent guided home a header after a pinpoint cross from Lukáš Haraslín. Tehelne Pole erupted.

Kosovo responded swiftly to the early setback. In the 21st minute, Veldin Hodža leveled the score with a composed finish. Mërgim Vojvoda provided the assist, showcasing his attacking prowess.

The seesaw battle continued as Slovakia reclaimed their lead just before the break. Lukáš Haraslín netted a crucial goal in the 45th minute, sending the hosts into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. Kosovo also collected two yellow cards in this period.

With a narrow lead at halftime, Slovakia looked to consolidate their position. However, Kosovo showed resilience, and the second half promised more attacking football. The visitors needed a tactical shift to impact the game.

Kosovo wasted no time after the restart. Just two minutes into the second half, Fisnik Asllani drilled in the equalizer. Vojvoda again provided the assist, setting the stage for a dramatic turnaround.

The visitors then seized control of the match. Florent Muslija slotted home a goal in the 60th minute, putting Kosovo ahead for the first time. The momentum had clearly shifted.

Kreshnik Hajrizi further extended Kosovo’s advantage in the 72nd minute. His goal made it 4-2, completing a stunning three-goal comeback. Slovakia struggled to contain Kosovo’s relentless attack.

Slovakia pushed for a late revival. Deep into stoppage time, David Strelec scored in the 94th minute, assisted by Dávid Hancko. This proved to be a mere consolation goal for the hosts.

Despite Slovakia’s 57% ball possession and 20 total shots, Kosovo proved more clinical. The visitors scored four goals from only nine total shots, with five on target. Kosovo’s goalkeeper also made five crucial saves.

This exhilarating 4-3 victory represents a monumental result for Kosovo in their World Cup Qualification campaign. It significantly boosts their hopes, while Slovakia now faces an uphill battle to recover from this damaging home defeat.
