Mallorca and Valencia shared the spoils in a competitive La Liga encounter at Son Moix, with Samú Costa’s second-half strike canceled out by Umar Sadiq’s equalizer.

Mallorca hosted Valencia on April 21 looking to climb away from the relegation zone. The home side occupied 15th place with 34 points from 31 matches. Valencia sat just above them in 14th with 35 points. Both teams needed victories to strengthen their survival hopes in a tight battle at the bottom of the table.

The first half remained goalless despite Mallorca’s dominance. The hosts controlled possession at 59 percent and created numerous chances. Valencia’s goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski proved crucial for the visitors, making several important saves to keep the score level.

Mallorca pressed forward consistently in the opening 45 minutes. Sergi Darder orchestrated play from midfield with five key passes. Jan Virgili and other attacking players tested Dimitrievski repeatedly. However, the home side could not find the breakthrough before the interval.

Valencia defended resolutely despite limited possession. The visitors absorbed pressure and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. They managed just three shots on target but remained compact and organized throughout the first period.

The second half brought immediate drama. Samú Costa broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with a composed finish. The Mallorca midfielder fired past Dimitrievski to give the hosts the lead they deserved. Costa’s goal came after sustained pressure and rewarded the home side’s attacking intent.

Valencia responded quickly to falling behind. The visitors pushed forward with renewed urgency. Umar Sadiq equalized just 18 minutes later in the 67th minute. Sadiq’s goal breathed life into Valencia’s performance and shifted momentum.

Both teams created chances after Sadiq’s leveler. Mallorca continued to dominate possession and registered eight shots on target. Valencia improved their attacking output but remained limited in clear-cut opportunities. The match developed into an open contest with both sides seeking a winner.

Dimitrievski made seven crucial saves throughout the 90 minutes, earning a rating of 8.9. The Valencia goalkeeper’s performance proved decisive in preserving a point for the visitors. Costa finished with a rating of 8 after his goal and tireless work in midfield.

Mallorca finished with superior statistics across most metrics. The hosts recorded 20 total shots compared to Valencia’s 10. Expected goals favored Mallorca at 1.81 to 1.49. Yet Valencia’s defensive discipline and Dimitrievski’s brilliance ensured they left with a draw.

The result leaves both teams in precarious positions. Mallorca remains in 15th place with 34 points from 32 matches. Valencia sits 14th with 35 points from 32 games. Both sides face crucial matches ahead as the season enters its final stretch.
