Douglas Luiz struck early as Juventus secured a comfortable 2-0 pre-season victory over French side OGC Nice at the Juventus Training Center in Turin on Thursday.
The Brazilian midfielder pounced on an early defensive error to set the hosts on their way, before substitute Justin Oboavwoduo added a late second to seal the win.
Both sides treated the warm-up encounter as a vital fitness test ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Juventus took control of proceedings almost immediately at their Continassa training complex.
The opening goal arrived in the tenth minute following an impressive piece of high pressing from Luiz. The midfielder dispossessed a Nice defender inside the attacking third before driving into the penalty area to finish past goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf.
Nice attempted to establish a foothold in the match after falling behind, but Juventus maintained defensive discipline and restricted the French outfit from creating clear opportunities.
The tempo slowed significantly following the half-time break as both teams opted for extensive squad rotations. Experienced figures Teun Koopmeiners, Arthur Melo, and João Mário were all introduced to gain valuable minutes.
A selection of young prospects was also handed an opportunity in the second half as both coaching staffs explored their squad depth. Despite the sweeping changes, the Bianconeri remained compact and composed in possession.
Nice pushed forward late on in search of an equalizer, but Juventus put the outcome beyond doubt in the 89th minute. Vasilije Adzic triggered a swift counterattack, sliding an incisive through-ball into the path of Oboavwoduo.
The young substitute made no mistake, displaying impressive composure to send a delicate finishing touch past Diouf and double the Italian side's lead.
The fixture marked only the second documented senior meeting between the two clubs, following their previous encounter during the 1951 Rio Cup. Juventus will draw plenty of encouragement from another solid defensive performance as pre-season preparations continue.
