Inter launched their Serie A title defence with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Monza, blowing the visitors away with three second-half goals at San Siro.
Cristian Chivu's side took just six minutes to break the deadlock when Andy Diouf advanced down the right wing and pulled the ball back for Hakan Calhanoglu to blast home from 20 yards.
Monza absorbed heavy pressure throughout the opening period but struck back against the run of play in the 29th minute.
Mathis Mout picked out Gustavo Varela, who slipped past defender Manuel Akanji and finished neatly across goalkeeper Josep Martinez to level the scores before the interval.
The hosts restored their lead three minutes into the second half as Piotr Zielinski pounced on an error from goalkeeper Semuel Pizzignacco following a corner.
Inter quickly extended their advantage in the 55th minute when Diouf claimed his second assist of the evening, delivering for Francesco Pio Esposito to convert with a clever backheel finish.
Yann Bisseck put the result beyond any doubt eight minutes later, driving home a left-footed strike after Esposito turned provider inside the penalty area.
Akanji struck the crossbar as the dominant hosts pressed for more, before England international John Stones made his debut from the bench in the closing stages.
Ivan Juric's Monza could find no response in the final quarter, leaving Inter to seal all three points and an opening-day victory in commanding fashion.
