Bayern München continued their dominant Bundesliga campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Union Berlin, spearheaded by a clinical double from Serge Gnabry.

Bayern München delivered a powerful, convincing performance at the Allianz Arena, sweeping aside Union Berlin with a resounding 4-0 triumph. Serge Gnabry’s two goals highlighted a dominant display from the league leaders on March 21, 2026.

Coming into this match, Bayern sat comfortably at the Bundesliga’s top spot, showcasing formidable form with four wins in their last five outings. Union Berlin, in contrast, occupied ninth position and sought to break a challenging run of mixed results.

The match began with immediate intensity. Dayot Upamecano received an early yellow card for Bayern in the 3rd minute for a foul. Union Berlin, determined to disrupt Bayern’s rhythm, adopted a physical approach.

This tactical choice earned Union two yellow cards before the half-hour mark. L. Querfeld was booked in the 30th minute, followed by D. Doekhi in the 37th for rough challenges.

Despite Union’s early resistance, Bayern’s sustained pressure finally broke through in the 43rd minute. Michael Olise seized the opportunity, drilling home the opening goal and igniting the Allianz Arena crowd.

The momentum swung decisively just before the break. Serge Gnabry doubled Bayern’s lead in the 45+1 minute, converting a chance to send his team into halftime with a comfortable two-goal cushion. This late surge proved crucial.

Union’s manager undoubtedly faced a difficult half-time team talk, needing a significant tactical shift to stem the flow. Bayern, however, aimed to maintain their high intensity and secure the three points without drama.

Bayern wasted no time in the second half. Harry Kane extended the lead to 3-0 in the 49th minute, coolly finishing after an incisive assist from Konrad Laimer. Union’s hopes quickly faded further.

Union made early second-half substitutions, bringing on T. Skarke and S. Nsoki in the 46th minute, but the changes had little immediate impact. Serge Gnabry completed his impressive double in the 67th minute, confidently adding Bayern’s fourth goal of the afternoon and putting the result beyond any doubt.

Both teams made further changes as the game entered its latter stages. Bayern introduced L. Karl and T. Bischof in the 61st minute, later joined by Hiroki Ito in the 71st, managing the game effectively.

Bayern’s overwhelming dominance was vividly reflected in the statistics, boasting 74% ball possession and a staggering 31 total shots, with 9 on target. Their expected goals (xG) stood at a formidable 5.53 compared to Union’s mere 0.21, showcasing a clear mismatch.

This emphatic 4-0 victory solidified Bayern München’s iron grip on the Bundesliga summit, extending their impressive title challenge. Union Berlin now faces the challenge of regrouping after a tough outing against the formidable league leaders.
