AC Milan have agreed a club-record deal to sign Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain, ending a swift pursuit for the 25-year-old Portugal striker.
According to The Athletic's James Horncastle, the deal is done. Ramos will become the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era at San Siro.
Milan are set to offer Ramos a long-term contract worth around €4m per season. Negotiations with his agent Jorge Mendes moved quickly once a fee was agreed with PSG.
Talks started fast. An opening bid worth just under or just over €50m was put to PSG, and the French champions accepted, ending a race that drew in clubs from across Europe.
Ramos has already completed his medical not at San Siro, but in Florida. He is currently with Portugal's squad preparing for their final World Cup group-stage game against Colombia in Miami.
Amorim has been building Milan around a 3-4-2-1 system and needed a centre-forward suited to it. Ramos fits the bill: a striker who drops deep, links play, and scores in the box.
The Benfica academy product joined PSG in 2023 for €65m. He won two back-to-back Champions League titles in Paris but was largely a substitute under manager Luis Enrique.
At 25, Ramos enters his prime years. Milan have long needed a consistent centre-forward. The last to fill that role with real presence was Olivier Giroud, who left the club approaching 40.
PSG are also expected to part ways with Randal Kolo Muani and Lee Kang-in this summer, signalling a broader squad overhaul in the French capital.
For Milan, this is more than a signing. It is a statement of intent from Cardinale and Amorim the Rossoneri are rebuilding with ambition, and Ramos is their cornerstone.
