Andre’s dramatic injury-time winner sealed a stunning 2-1 victory for struggling Wolves over Liverpool at Molineux, sparking wild celebrations.

Wolves, anchored at the bottom of the Premier League table in 20th position with just 13 points, faced a formidable challenge against a Liverpool side sitting 5th, intent on solidifying their European aspirations. The visitors arrived in good form, winning three of their last five league encounters.

Liverpool started the match with clear intent, dominating possession and pushing for an early breakthrough. Their intricate passing often left Wolves chasing shadows in the midfield.

However, the visitors found clear-cut chances difficult to come by against a resilient Wolves defence. Ryan Gravenberch received the game’s first yellow card in the 22nd minute for a mistimed challenge, highlighting the intensity of the contest.

Despite Liverpool’s control, they failed to convert their considerable possession into goals. Wolves goalkeeper José Sá made several crucial saves, denying Liverpool’s persistent attacks. The first half concluded without either side breaking the deadlock, much to the frustration of the travelling support.

At halftime, Liverpool manager would have urged his team to find more precision in the final third. Wolves needed to create more offensive opportunities to alleviate pressure on their defence.

The second half saw early substitutions from both benches. Liverpool introduced Curtis Jones for Ryan Gravenberch at the restart, seeking fresh impetus. Wolves responded with multiple changes around the hour mark, bringing on Tolu Arokodare and Rodrigo Gomes.

The changes paid dividends for the home side. In the 78th minute, Rodrigo Gomes broke the deadlock for Wolves. He latched onto an assist from Tolu Arokodare and fired the ball past the Liverpool goalkeeper, igniting the Molineux crowd.

The lead was short-lived, however. Just five minutes later, Mohamed Salah quickly drew Liverpool level in the 83rd minute, restoring parity and setting up a frantic finish. Liverpool pushed for a winner, piling pressure on the Wolves goal.

But the final twist belonged to the home side. Deep into added time, in the 94th minute, Andre rose highest to head home a precise cross from Jackson Tchatchoua. This dramatic late goal sent Molineux into raptures and secured an unforgettable victory.

Despite Liverpool’s statistical superiority – 66% possession, 18 total shots, and an expected goals (xG) figure of 1.87 – they ultimately succumbed. Wolves, with just 34% possession, 4 total shots, and a low xG of 0.44, proved remarkably clinical, converting their few chances efficiently.

This monumental result provides Wolves with a vital boost in their desperate fight against relegation, moving them closer to safety. For Liverpool, it represents a damaging setback in their pursuit of a top-four Premier League finish, dampening their European ambitions.
