Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement to appoint former Juventus manager Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the season. The move follows the dismissal of Thomas Frank on Wednesday after a disappointing seven-month tenure in north London.

According to The Athletic, the 47-year-old Croatian is set to join on a short-term contract with no option for a permanent extension. The club intends to conduct a wider search for a long-term successor during the summer window.

“The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today,” Tottenham said in a statement on Wednesday. The decision came after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United left the team 16th in the Premier League table.

Frank, who was appointed in June 2025, departed with the club just five points above the relegation zone. Sky Sports reports that Tudor met with club officials on Friday to finalize the terms of his arrival.

“Results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary,” the club added in its official announcement. Frank oversaw just two victories in his final 17 league matches at the helm.

According to The Guardian, the appointment of Tudor allows the hierarchy to keep the door open for a potential return of Mauricio Pochettino in the summer. Tudor was most recently at Juventus but was dismissed in October 2025 after an eight-match winless run.

“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together,” the club statement continued. Despite the board’s initial backing, the recent slump forced an immediate change to stabilize the season.

Sky Sports in Italy reports that Tudor has accepted the role and is expected to take charge of training early next week. He brings experience from previous managerial stints at Marseille, Lazio, and Galatasaray.

Tottenham are currently without a fixture this weekend following an early exit from the FA Cup in January. This break provides Tudor with a full week to prepare the squad for his first match in charge.

Spurs return to action on Sunday, February 22, for a high-stakes north London derby against league leaders Arsenal. Tudor will be tasked with navigating a difficult run-in to ensure the club’s Premier League survival.
