Inter Milan delivered a resounding 5-0 thrashing to Sassuolo, with Federico Dimarco leading the charge with a hat-trick of assists.

Inter Milan demonstrated their title credentials with a dominant performance at the MAPEI Stadium, solidifying their position atop the Serie A table.

The league leaders arrived in red-hot form. Sassuolo, in 11th, sought a crucial upset on home turf.

Inter quickly asserted control, opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Yann Bisseck headed home firmly from a precise Federico Dimarco cross.

The visitors doubled their advantage after 28 minutes. Marcus Thuram slotted the ball past the goalkeeper following another exquisite Dimarco delivery.

Sassuolo briefly thought they had found a lifeline. Kristian Thorstvedt saw his effort disallowed for offside after a VAR review in the 41st minute.

Inter entered halftime with a comfortable two-goal lead, having dictated the pace of the match. Sassuolo faced an immense challenge to salvage anything.

The second half began with Inter immediately extending their lead. Lautaro Martinez fired a powerful shot into the net in the 50th minute.

Momentum swung further in Inter’s favour four minutes later. Manuel Akanji scored Inter’s fourth goal, yet again benefiting from a sublime Dimarco delivery.

Sassuolo’s afternoon turned from bad to worse simultaneously. Midfielder Nemanja Matic received two quick yellow cards for unsportsmanlike conduct in the 54th minute, resulting in a red card and leaving his side with ten men.

With a commanding lead and a man advantage, Inter made several substitutions. Piotr Zielinski and Alessandro Bastoni entered, maintaining the high tempo.

Inter were not finished, pushing for a fifth goal. Substitute Luis Henrique curled a magnificent strike past the helpless goalkeeper in the 89th minute, completing the rout.

Inter’s statistical dominance underlined their performance, commanding 62% possession and 23 total shots, 11 on target. Their xG of 2.59 significantly dwarfed Sassuolo’s 0.78.

This emphatic victory firmly establishes Inter’s authority at the Serie A summit, strengthening their title aspirations. For Sassuolo, it marks a significant setback, highlighting areas for urgent improvement.
