According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is aggressively pursuing the signing of Marcus Thuram, the 25-year-old striker from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Thuram, who is a France international, is set to become a free agent as his contract with his current club expires in June.
PSG has wasted no time in the summer transfer window, already securing notable deals. They have completed the signing of 22-year-old Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte for a hefty sum of €60 million.
Additionally, they have acquired former Real Madrid player Marco Asensio on a free transfer. Milan Skriniar, the 28-year-old Inter centre-back, is also set to join PSG on a free transfer.
As per the report, positive talks have taken place between PSG and Marcus Thuram, who is the eldest son of the legendary defender Lilian Thuram.
The talented forward has shown a keen interest in a move to Parc des Princes, and his fellow PSG teammate Kylian Mbappé is reportedly attempting to persuade Thuram to favor the move.
Luis Campos, the sporting director of PSG, apparently views Thuram as the ideal target man and an experienced out-and-out striker, qualities that the team currently lacks.
It is believed that Hugo Ekitike has not demonstrated enough potential, further emphasizing the need for a player like Thuram. Sources suggest that Thuram has shared with his close circle that PSG is a strong contender when it comes to choosing his future club.
With aspirations of earning a place in the France squad for Euro 2024, Thuram recognizes the importance of performing at a high level.
Joining a team of PSG’s caliber, which regularly participates in the Champions League, would greatly enhance his chances of achieving this goal.
