Liverpool have reportedly initiated discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt regarding a summer transfer for French striker Hugo Ekitike. The 22-year-old has also attracted interest from Chelsea, with Frankfurt said to value the forward at around €100 million (£84m/$113m).

According to Sky Germany, talks have taken place between Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike. Both incoming Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and key club figure Michael Edwards are said to be keen on the striker.

Ekitike has enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign in Germany, netting 22 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions. His impressive form helped Frankfurt secure third place and Champions League qualification for next season.

Eintracht Frankfurt are yet to receive a formal offer for Ekitike. However, the German club’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, has indicated a potential willingness to sell if their valuation is met, acknowledging Ekitike as “one of the most interesting strikers on the European market”.

Frankfurt initially acquired Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €20 million. His strong performances have seen his valuation rise significantly, with some reports suggesting it started around €80 million before climbing to the current €100 million mark.

Liverpool are apparently looking to bolster their attacking options and reduce the goalscoring burden on Mohamed Salah. Chelsea are considered Liverpool’s main rivals for Ekitike’s signature. Other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, have also been linked with the forward.

The Merseyside club is also reportedly pursuing other targets, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. The potential acquisition of Ekitike is seen by some as an exciting prospect for Liverpool.
