Levante secure thrilling 4-2 victory over Oviedo thanks to Carlos Espí’s early double.

Levante produced a dominant attacking display, defeating Oviedo 4-2 at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. Forward Carlos Espí was the hero, scoring twice to set the home side on their way in a dramatic La Liga encounter.

This crucial La Liga clash on March 21, 2026, saw both teams desperate for points. Levante (19th, 23 points) sought to climb, while Oviedo (20th, 21 points) aimed to avoid deepening their struggles.

The hosts wasted no time, with Carlos Espí opening the scoring in the 4th minute with a well-placed finish. Espí then doubled his tally in the 25th minute, slotting home to give Levante a commanding two-goal lead.

Oviedo, however, showed resilience, clawing their way back into the match just before halftime. Ibrahima Chaira netted in the 44th minute, reducing the deficit for the visitors.

The drama intensified deep into first-half stoppage time. Federico Viñas calmly converted a penalty in the 45+3 minute, astonishingly drawing Oviedo level heading into the break.

The interval arrived with the scores unexpectedly tied at 2-2, setting the stage for a tense second half. Levante needed to regain their early control, while Oviedo aimed to capitalize on their turnaround.

Levante quickly reasserted their dominance after the restart. Iker Losada restored the home side’s lead in the 52nd minute, guiding a shot past the Oviedo goalkeeper following an assist from Kareem Tunde.

The second half saw numerous substitutions as both managers sought to influence the game. Oviedo introduced several players around the 64th minute, while Levante made tactical changes at 75 minutes. Yellow cards were shown to players from both sides.

As the game entered its final moments, Levante pushed for a decisive fourth goal. Substitute Iván Romero delivered it in the 90+3 minute, sealing a vital 4-2 victory for the home team with a late strike.

Despite Oviedo holding 62% possession to Levante’s 38%, the hosts were more clinical. Levante registered 20 total shots with 8 on target, far outperforming Oviedo’s 10 shots with only 2 on target. Levante’s xG of 1.87 also topped Oviedo’s 1.34.

This hard-fought win lifts Levante above Oviedo in the standings, offering a much-needed boost. The result provides crucial momentum as the season progresses.
