Chelsea’s official Twitter account took a cheeky swipe at Leeds United following their relegation from the Premier League. This comes after a season that saw Chelsea finish in a disappointing 12th place, despite a massive investment of over £600m in two transfer windows under new owner Todd Boehly.

Earlier in the season, Leeds had triumphed over Chelsea with a 3-0 victory at home, scoring three goals in just seven minutes. Leeds United’s Twitter account had then posted a screenshot of Chelsea’s goal updates with the caption: “Life comes at you fast!”

However, Chelsea had not forgotten the defeat nor the jibe by Leeds United. After Leeds’ hopes of Premier League survival were dashed with a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham, Chelsea’s Twitter account reposted Leeds’ tweet from months ago with the caption: “It certainly does.”

Despite the banter, Chelsea’s season has been a disappointment. However, with Mauricio Pochettino set to take over as their manager next season, fans are hopeful of a strong comeback.
