Chelsea Football Club is on the brink of securing their first striker signing of the summer transfer window, with Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson set to make the move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues are prepared to meet Jackson’s €35m release clause, and a deal is said to be imminent.

Jackson, who netted 12 goals in 26 La Liga appearances last season, has agreed to terms on a long-term deal at Chelsea. The 21-year-old forward is set to become the first signing for Mauricio Pochettino since he took over as Chelsea’s head coach.

Speaking about the imminent move, Jackson’s agent, Diomansy Kamara, confirmed that there are offers on the table and that they are in the process of evaluating them. “Now we have offers on the table. We are in the process of evaluating them and, shortly, you will have news regarding his situation,” Kamara said.

Kamara also revealed that Jackson had always harboured a desire to join the Premier League. “He would have liked to join the Premier League, but it did not happen. And then he went back to work and exploded even more in Villarreal,” Kamara added.

Jackson’s signing is expected to bolster Chelsea’s attacking options, following the club’s goalscoring issues in the 2022/23 season.
