Celtic Football Club is reportedly considering AZ Alkmaar head coach Pascal Jansen as a potential candidate for their managerial role.
The London-born coach, who is highly regarded in the Dutch Eredivisie, led AZ Alkmaar to a fourth-place finish this season, just behind Ajax. His team also reached the final four of the Europa Conference League, where they were defeated by eventual winners West Ham.
Jansen’s Impressive Track Record
50-year-old Jansen has never worked in the UK, but in a conversation with 90min earlier this season, he expressed his desire to work in his homeland. This opportunity could now come this summer with Celtic. Jansen’s impressive performance at AZ Alkmaar has not only caught the attention of Celtic but also Dutch giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, who are both in the market for new coaches.
Celtic’s Search for a New Manager
Celtic lost their head coach Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week, and their search for a new boss has already begun. Several names have been linked with the role, including Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca, former boss Brendan Rodgers, and West Ham’s David Moyes, who has very close ties to the club where he first emerged as a player in the 1980s.
However, Celtic are exploring a number of options, and Pascal Jansen is one of the names that has emerged. The club is yet to make a decision, and it will be interesting to see who they finally choose to lead the team.
