Arsenal is making headlines with its pursuit of Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and West Ham’s Declan Rice. However, the outcomes of these pursuits seem to be diverging.
Kai Havertz, the German international and Chelsea forward, appears to be edging closer to a move to the Emirates. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Havertz and Arsenal have almost reached an agreement on personal terms.
The only remaining hurdle is the agreement with Chelsea over the transfer fee. Chelsea’s initial asking price was in the region of £70-£75 million, a sum Arsenal is unwilling to pay. However, Romano suggests that Chelsea might show flexibility on the fee, opening the door for a potential agreement.
Havertz, who scored 32 goals in 139 appearances for Chelsea, reportedly gave the green light to Arsenal’s contract proposal. The German forward’s potential move to Arsenal has been progressing rapidly, and it seems he could be Arsenal’s first signing of the summer.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s pursuit of Declan Rice has hit a roadblock. The Gunners’ initial approach for the West Ham captain has been instantly rejected. Rice, who is under contract until 2024, is expected to leave the London Stadium this summer. However, West Ham’s dissatisfaction with Arsenal’s first bid and the potential interest from Manchester City could trigger a bidding war.
