Arsenal FC is reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry. The London club, which is set to return to the Champions League next season, has given manager Mikel Arteta the green light to pursue the German winger, according to a report from the Daily Express.

A Long-Standing Interest

Gnabry, who spent his early career with Arsenal, has been on the club’s radar for some time. Despite his stint in London not being particularly noteworthy, Arsenal has closely followed Gnabry’s progress in Germany. Last summer, reports suggested that Arteta was interested in bringing Gnabry back to the Emirates, but the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League at the time made the move financially unfeasible.

However, after securing a second-place finish in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season, Arsenal’s circumstances have changed. The club is now in a position to reaffirm their interest in Gnabry ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Bayern Munich’s Squad Revamp

According to German newspaper Bild, Bayern Munich is planning a squad overhaul under manager Thomas Tuchel. Gnabry, along with teammates Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane, has been put up for sale. All three players could potentially leave the Bavarian club if the right offer comes along.

While Gnabry’s starting position at Bayern is not guaranteed, he is considered a key member of the squad. He is expected to rotate with Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané in the wing position next season. If Sadio Mané does not transfer away, he would also be in the mix.

A Potential Reunion on the Cards?

With Arsenal’s renewed interest and Bayern’s willingness to sell, a Gnabry-Arsenal reunion could be on the cards. The German winger’s return to the Emirates would certainly bolster Arsenal’s attacking options and add depth to their squad. However, only time will tell if this potential move materializes. As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal fans will be eagerly waiting to see if their club can secure the services of the former Gunner.
