In the wake of a challenging season, Arsenal is setting its sights on Galatasaray’s right-back Sacha Boey. The Gunners are keen to bolster their defensive line-up, and Boey has emerged as a promising prospect.

The North London club’s defensive shortcomings were exposed in the closing stages of the recent campaign, prompting a strategic rethink. The upcoming transfer window presents an opportunity to address these issues, and Boey, a regular feature in Galatasaray’s line-up, is on Arsenal’s radar.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has reportedly expressed interest in a move to England. However, securing his services won’t be straightforward. Galatasaray is expected to demand around £20 million for Boey, and competition from other Premier League clubs is anticipated.

Arsenal’s defensive line-up has primarily consisted of Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu this season. However, a severe knee injury to Tomiyasu in March has left a gap that needs filling. While manager Mikel Arteta is hopeful of Tomiyasu’s return for pre-season, concerns remain about the duration of his recovery.

The club had previously shown interest in Ivan Fresneda, the Valladolid teenager, as a potential addition to their right-back options. However, it remains to be seen whether they will intensify their pursuit of Fresneda.

In addition to Boey, Arsenal has also expressed interest in Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo. However, there are concerns that City may be reluctant to sell to a direct title rival.

Despite the focus on defensive reinforcements, Arsenal’s top priority for the summer remains the central midfield position. West Ham United’s Declan Rice is known to be their main target. Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and City’s Ilkay Gundogan are also on Arsenal’s radar.

Arteta emphasised the importance of successful recruitment in the upcoming transfer window. “I think the competition is going to be even harder than this season,” he said. “In order to do that, we have a really promising plan.”
